Living in Slums
Homes made of mud, with very limited room and crowded is what its like to live in a slum. It is very small and cause many problems. No space, Human waste, trash found everywhere are just some things you will find in a slum, you can also find children everywhere because there parents can not afford for school, and no toys to play with. Living in a slum can be extremely dangerous but sad for many people because, there is human waste found everywhere, rivers carry sewage and chemicals causing pollution, and kids not having toys to play with or schools to attend.
Human waste in a slum can be found everywhere, outside, inside, in the streets, and near the rivers. Sanitation in a slum is nearly absent, visitors who go to visit slums call them “flying toilets” because they are found everywhere you look. When Sanitation is nearly absent it can be very dangerous. “ Human waste leaches into the water people drink and contaminates the food they eat.” This sentence is a quotation from a text by the author Fink (Fink 2).According to an article by Sheri Fink, those people who are drinking that water are drinking water and bathing with water that has there own waste. This quote is trying to say that not only is there waste found everywhere but it is also found in the water they drink. Another problem found in slums is rivers carrying chemicals and sewage causing pollution.

Another problems that is found in slums is rivers carrying sewage and chemicals that cause pollution. This can cause problems because those people are drinking and taking showers with water that has sewage and chemicals that can cause many pollution problems because those chemicals and sewage can cause many diseases . “Rivers not only carry sewage but also farming chemicals from estates outside the slum, it is littered with refuse, too: plastic bags, glass bottles.” This sentence is a quotation from a text by the author Fink. (Fink 1). According to an article by Sheri Fink rivers carry many things and those people cannot make a difference. This quote is trying to say that the river carries many things and none of them are making a good thing to help them out. Children not having schools to attend or toys to play with is also a problem found in a slum.
Many Children have to stay at home all day because they do not have any schools to attend or any money to go and buy toys. They also cannot learn anything from there parents because there parents probably did not go to school. The children have to stay at home all day because they do not have anything to do or entertain themselves with. “They make toys out of simple objects: A string audiotape tied with a stick. A plastic hanger passed back and forth through a wooden gate.” This sentence is a quotation from the author Fink. (Fink 4). According to an article by Sheri Fink children do not have enough money to buy toys so they have to make there own toys out of simple objects. This quote is trying to say that those children can dream of playing with toys but they now that cannot be because they do not have enough money to buy one, the reason why they have to entertain themselves with simple objects is because they cannot attend school or play with real toys.

In conclusion, having human waste everywhere, sewage and chemicals running through rivers, and no schools to attend or toys to play with are just some problems you can find in a Slum. A small home made of mud is what a slum is and even though it is very small it can cause many problems. Living in a slum is very dangerous but sad for many people, there is human waste found everywhere,
rivers carrying sewage and chemicals and children having no schools to attend or schools to play with. All these things are some problems that living in a slum can cause. Many people would love to live somewhere else, and actually have the opportunity in this life to make our world a better place but with people not caring they will never have the chance.
